Up at jet lagging away

07.30
Up at 3.45, jet lagging away. Down to business calls to England & a massive e-flurry to deal with 91 e-mails.

13.09
To bed at 8.15 and up at 12.30. A pile of new e-mails. Off to the venue at 14.00

23.24
The audience made the show. Soundcheck was difficult: the sound of the room, when empty, is bright & hard. New monitors, tuning our ears, major jet lag for all of us. How to stay awake for the show? But, the experienced gigster knows, just get yourself on stage. Then, everything changes.

The beginning segment was deliberately a series of hard pieces, made harder because the sound didn't come together onstage & internally for at least 3 tunes. But, with an audience this generous (yes, with minor customary violations) who could fail to have heart?

Leaving, there were a small group of enthusiasts with things for signing, which I declined. I also declined to lurk & hide until I could climb in the van. People this good are not to be avoided. Then, to spoil the human-ness of proximity to members of the audience after our show, off went the flash from a young man old enough to know this was not the thing to do. What a pity. So unnecessary.
